Three steps to your first agreement
Import
Open a new agreement and scan today's appointment list. On-device text recognition reads patient names and item numbers into the form. Check them against the list before continuing.
Sign
Turn the screen to the patient. They review what they're agreeing to and sign on-screen with a finger. The date and time are recorded automatically.
Export
Confirm and save. AOB Assist files an audited PDF on your device, and can also copy it (or the whole day as a zip) to a folder you choose.
Common issues
The list isn't scanning accurately
Text recognition works best with good, even lighting and no glare on the screen or page. Hold the phone steady for a moment while it focuses, and make sure the full list is inside the frame rather than cropped at the edges. If a name or item number comes through wrong, tap it to correct it before signing. Nothing is final until the agreement is saved.
Exports aren't appearing in my chosen folder
If mirroring to your export folder stops working (for example after moving or renaming the folder, or reinstalling the Files provider), re-select the export folder in Settings. AOB Assist needs a fresh permission grant any time the underlying folder location changes.
I just reinstalled the app. What do I need to know?
A fresh install starts with empty on-device storage. Nothing carries over automatically, because nothing was ever stored anywhere but the previous device. Restore from your own exported PDFs/zips or a device backup if you have one. This is exactly why we recommend regular exports (see below).
The app doesn't seem to be saving my settings
Check that AOB Assist has not been restricted from background storage under iOS Settings, and that you have free storage space on the device. If the issue continues, email support@aobassist.com.au with your iOS version and a description of what you saw.
Back up your archive
AOB Assist stores agreements only on the device you created them on. By design, we have no copy and no way to recover a lost one.
Choose an export folder
In Settings, set the export folder to a location that syncs off the phone, such as iCloud Drive or another cloud folder you control, so agreements are copied out as they're created. A local On My iPhone folder still lives only on the device, so it would be lost with the phone.
Export the day as a zip
At the end of a session, use the day export to save every agreement as one zip, a simple habit that mirrors closing out paper files.
Keep device backups current
Make sure iCloud or computer backups are running normally. A lost or damaged phone should never mean lost records.
Keeping your records safe
In plain terms, what happens to an agreement after it is signed, and what we suggest you do about it.
They stay on your device
Agreements are stored only on the iPhone or iPad you created them on. AOB Assist never sends them anywhere: there are no accounts, no servers and no networking in the app at all. That also means we hold no copy and cannot recover one for you.
Export a copy regularly
Use the Export option in the Archive tab to save a copy, then keep it with your practice records the way you would any other clinical paperwork. Records generally need to be producible for two years, so a regular habit matters more than a perfect one.
Device backups count too
An encrypted backup of your device also includes the app's data, so a phone that is backed up normally is not a single point of failure. It is still worth exporting, because an exported copy is one you can hand over without restoring a device.
